Life Sciences student Prapty broadens biotechnology studies through INTI exchange in Malaysia
Published : 24 September 2026
From bioinformatics and bioethics to hands-on laboratory work, IUB student Marjia Tasnim Prapty is exploring different areas of biotechnology during a semester exchange at INTI International University in Malaysia.
Prapty, a student of Biochemistry and Biotechnology in the School of Environment and Life Sciences at Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB), joined INTI for the Autumn 2026 semester, which runs from August 24 to December 20.
Her academic program includes four courses: Bioinformatics (BIF4201M), Biotechnology Practice (BTE4205M), Bioethics (SCI4202M), and Biotechnology Laboratory 2 (BTE4250M). Together, the courses are giving her exposure to different aspects of her field through coursework, laboratory-based learning and research.
For Prapty, the exchange is also an opportunity to experience how science is taught and approached in a different academic environment. She applied for the program after learning about it through an announcement from IUB's Office of Admissions, Financial Aid and International Relations, with an interest in experiencing a different academic system and approaches to scientific learning and problem-solving.
The Office of Admissions, Financial Aid and International Relations assisted her with documentation, coordination and other preparations for the exchange.
Prapty hopes to pursue a career in biochemistry, focusing on research and biotechnology related to healthcare. She sees her time at INTI as an opportunity to broaden her academic perspective as she prepares for further studies and a career in the field.
