Justin Matthias Baroi, a student of International Business at Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB), finished as Runner-up in the Chess Battle of the 3rd DRMC National Math Summit 2026, organized by the DRMC Math Club at Dhaka Residential Model College on September 18, 2026.

The Senior Chess category included around 100 participants from schools, colleges, and universities across Bangladesh and was open to participants from Class 9 to university level.

The competition began with an elimination round, in which a single loss resulted in elimination. Baroi advanced through the stage after defeating eight players and qualified among the final six participants.

The final six players competed in a four-round round-robin format. Baroi scored 3.5 points in four rounds, including a draw against Candidate Master Azmaeen Parvez Sayor, ranked 56th in Bangladesh. Baroi finished second based on the Buchholz tiebreak system.
