The team of Abdullah Al Rafi Mahmud, student of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) at Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB), and Badhan Saha of the University of Dhaka, has won Gold Medal at the Fibonacci International Robot and STEM Olympiad (FIRSO) 2026 Bangladesh National Round.

The tournament was held on September 4, 2026, at United International University, Dhaka. Rafi and Badhan's team – called "Team The Divergent" – participated in the competition through the IUB Programming Club (IUBPC). They won gold in the Softech segment of the Project Showcase part of the competition and in the process have qualified for the international round to be held in Italy in November-December 2026.

Their project was called "Ramisa", a safety application that integrates emergency response and safety services into a single platform. The application provides SOS alerts, live location sharing, emergency calls, community-based emergency notifications, legal guidance, first aid support, wellness support, safety timers, safe-place detection, and ride tracking.

"Ramisa" also includes AI-based threat detection, offline SOS communication through mesh networks, hardware-based SOS triggers, and encrypted evidence storage. The application is designed to connect users with trusted contacts, emergency services, and nearby community members during emergencies.

Mahmud and Saha developed platform independently over a period of six months through rigorous research, planning, and software development to address challenges in accessing emergency assistance, location sharing, legal and medical support, and safety information through a single platform.

"Team The Divergent" also drew the attention from the Director of the Russian House, who offered support if the team decides to pursue international publication of the application. Rafi, an active member of IUBPC, was also selected for the international round of the World Sustainable Development Goals (WSDG) Challenge 2026 in Malaysia.
