IUB EEE Team Vhuter Raja becomes champion in robot-making hackathon
Published : 06 October 2026
A robotics team from the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering (EEE) of Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB) has become Champion in a Robot Making Hackathon organized by Robo Tech Valley.
The hackathon was held in December 2025. The robots developed by participants then went through several months of testing and observation. Finally, the winners were announced, and the official prize-giving ceremony was held on October 4, 2026, in Dhaka.
The IUB EEE team – called Team Vhuter Raja – comprised Kallyen Kumar Tirtho, team lead; and teammates Ankit Roy, Kazi Shafin Al-Fee, Md Arifin Hossain, and Md Sadman Bhuyian Sami. They were supervised by Prof. Dr. Feroz Ahmed.
The competition required participating teams to design and build robots capable of moving, creating programmed effects, and interacting with audiences. Following an initial selection process, 20 teams participated in the three-day hackathon. The event was sponsored by Suvarnagrama Amusement Park & Resorts in Narayanganj and carried a total prize pool of BDT 100,000.
Team Vhuter Raja developed its robot using Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), pneumatic cylinders, and industrial-grade materials. The system was designed to produce programmed movements and operate in an amusement park environment.
Following the hackathon, the robot underwent several months of on-site testing and observation at Suvarnagram Amusement Park & Resorts. The testing evaluated the system's operation and durability under continuous use in an active amusement park setting. The robot is now installed at resort as a permanent attraction for visitors.
