IUB celebrates Tagore and Nazrul’s birth anniversaries through music and dance

Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB) celebrated the birth anniversaries of Rabindranath Tagore and Kazi Nazrul Islam with a cultural event at the university auditorium on May 19, 2026. The event was organized by the Kazi Nazrul Islam and Abbasuddin Ahmed Research & Study Center (KNIAARSC).
Renowned singer A.T.M. Jahangir and his daughter Ameya Protiti performed a number of Tagore songs including O Amar Desher Mati, Majhe Majhe Tobo Dekha Pai, Tomar Holo Shuru, Purano Sei Diner Kotha, Mayabonobiharini Horini, and so on.
Popular fusion artistes Shuvendu and Nandita and their band Mosey and Co. performed a selection of Nazrul songs including Duur Deepobashini, Porodeshi Megh, Amar Aponar Cheye, Darale Duare Mor, Bulbuli, Ami Chirotore, Momero Putul and Anjali Loho Mor.
Earlier, the program kicked off with a performance of the IUB Dance Club. Prof. M. Tamim, Vice Chancellor, and Prof. Ahmed Ahsanuzzaman, Director of KNIAARSC, spoke at the inaugural segment. Priyanka Dey, Deputy Director at the Admissions office, anchored the event. IUB Trustees, faculty members, students, officials and staff, and invited guests enjoyed the open-to-all program.
