CSE major Farhan’s team becomes runners-up in NSU Cybernauts 2026

Published : 21 June 2026

Farhan Sadeque, a student of Computer Science and Engineering at Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB) and his team have secured the Runner-Up position at the “National Inter-University NSU Cybernauts 2026 – Idea to Impact Competition”, held on June 17, 2026, at North South University, Dhaka.

The competition brought together more than 50 teams from universities across Bangladesh to develop and present solutions to real-world problems through an idea-based innovation challenge.

Team Anti Khamba comprised IUB's Farhan Sadeque; and Brac University's Ahnaf Zakaria, Sakib Khandakar, and Mujtahidul Hasan Sami. They developed and presented “Nirapotta”, a disaster operating system built on a self-healing mesh architecture that enables communication during disasters when conventional telecommunication infrastructure is unavailable.

The system uses Bluetooth Low Energy and a volunteer-assisted delay-tolerant network to support communication, field reporting, emergency response, resource allocation, localized warnings, and decision-making.

The competition evaluated teams on research methodology and project content, speech delivery, visual outlook or project workability, teamwork and presentation skills, and performance during the question-and-answer session. Each team delivered a 5-10-minute presentation followed by a question-and-answer session before a panel of judges.
