Dr. Imran Firdaus, Head of the Media and Communication Department at Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB), has partnered with Australian film label Umbrella Entertainment for their upcoming four-disc Blu-ray collector’s edition, New Extremity Collection Volume 3, releasing September 23, 2026.

Published in a 100-page book included with the set, Dr. Firdaus’s essay, "Irréversible À la mode: The Fabric of Haute horreur," introduces 'Haute horreur.' Focusing specifically on Gaspar Noé’s film Irréversible (2000), the piece examines how high fashion, provocative themes, and visceral trauma intersect in modern French cinema.

Edited by transgressive cinema expert Dr. Jack Sargeant, the full collector's set features four central films from the New French Extremity movement: Noé’s Irréversible, Claire Denis’s Trouble Every Day (2001), Yann Gozlan’s Caged (2010), and Julia Ducournau’s Raw (2016).

By combining university research with physical film releases, this project bridges academic scholarship and the global screen industry. It demonstrates how boutique physical media can offer rich educational context that digital streaming platforms rarely provide.
