The Chess Team of Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB) won the Division Championship of the Collegiate Chess League (CCL) Summer 2025 Team Battle held in July-August 2025. The members of the team are Amit Bikram Roy (Computer Science and Engineering), and Justin Mathias Baroi (International Business).

The global tournament, held online in knockout format with a 10-minutes-plus-2-seconds increment time control, saw participation from over 45 universities worldwide. The IUB team advanced by defeating Texas A&M University San Antonio of the United States in the semifinals and the University of Technology of Compiègne of France in the finals.

The format required both players to analyze positions jointly and decide on each move, combining collaboration and competitive play in a single structure. The result positioned the IUB Chess Club as a competitive participant in international collegiate chess, demonstrating its capability against strong teams from multiple regions.
