CCDS wins Best Paper and Best Presenter Awards at 2025 IEEE SCOReD in Malaysia

The Center for Computational & Data Sciences (CCDS) of Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB) won the Best Paper Award and the Best Presenter Award at the 2025 IEEE 23rd Student Conference on Research and Development (SCOReD), held on November 25–26 at Universiti Malaya in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
The Best Paper Award was given for the work titled “Effectiveness of Transfer Learning Approach for Low-Resource Bangla Dialect Translation,” authored by Dewan Rakin Ahamed Remal, Sinthia Chowdhury, Jahanggir Hossain Setu, and Nabarun Halder.
The Best Presenter Award was received by Faiza Omar Arpita for her presentation on “Preliminary Design of a Culturally Tailored AI-Integrated mHealth App for Gestational Diabetes and Excessive Weight Management in Bangladesh.” Arpita is a current MSc in Computer Science student at IUB.
Dr. Ashraful Islam, Director, CCDS; and Asif Mahmud, Co-Director, Industry & Partnership Wing, CCDS, joined the conference along with three students of MSc in Computer Science and four students of BSc in Computer Science and Engineering (CSE).
The group presented 14 accepted papers authored by 32 MSc Thesis and BSc Senior Project students under the supervision of CCDS wing directors and co-directors. The works covered areas connected to data science, AI-driven systems, informatics, blockchain, natural language processing, and computer vision.
CCDS researchers also presented work on climate accountability solutions, cyberbullying detection methods, agricultural technology proposals, medical diagnostic support systems, blockchain frameworks for environmental data, and learning models for image and text analysis. These papers are in press for publication in IEEE Xplore.
