IUB Law Alumni Association launched

The IUB Law Alumni Association (IUB-LAA) was launched on March 22, 2025, in collaboration with the Career Guidance, Placement & Alumni Relations (CGP&AR) Office of Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB). The event brought together faculty members, alumni, and students to establish a professional network for graduates of the School of Law. The program, held at the IUB Food Court, concluded with an iftar. The CGP&AR office provided financial and logistical support to facilitate the event.

Asif Abdullah, Convener of IUB-LAA, delivered the inaugural speech, emphasizing the association’s role in supporting legal professionals. Joint Conveners Irfan Mizan Khan and Syed Jahidul Islam reiterated the association’s commitment to career development and alumni engagement.

Prof. Dr. Borhan Uddin Khan, Advisor to IUB’s School of Law, highlighting the long-term vision for legal scholarship and community outreach. Prof. Dr. Mohammad Nazmuzzaman Bhuian, Dean of the School of Law, spoke on the contributions of alumni in academic and professional growth. Prof. Dr. Mahbubur Rahman, Head of the Department of Law, and faculty members Prof. Dr. Abdul Awal Khan and Assistant Professor Dr. Liton Chandra Biswas discussed the role of alumni in fostering a collaborative legal community.

Sharmeen Islam, Deputy Director and Head of CGP&AR, said, “The IUB Law Alumni Association will strengthen the bond between alumni and current students and facilitate career growth and lifelong friendships.”

The CGP&AR office welcomed the alumni with gifts. Awards were also presented to distinguished alumni in recognition of their contributions to the legal profession. Alumni reminisced about their time at IUB, recalling classroom experiences, faculty mentorship, and friendships that shaped their academic and professional journeys.

They also shared how their education at IUB prepared them for the legal field and expressed enthusiasm for reconnecting through the association. Ayesha Rahman, a recent graduate, noted that the platform would allow alumni to give back to the university while supporting aspiring law practitioners. The event concluded with discussions on upcoming initiatives under IUB-LAA and CGP&AR’s continued support for alumni activities.
