Published : 26 June 2025

The School of Environment and Life Sciences (SELS) of Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB) conducted a short course on Locally Led Adaptation (LLA) under the COLOCAL project on June 24, 2025.

The COLOCAL project is a six-year (2021–2026) initiative supported by a consortium of universities across Bangladesh, Norway, Uganda, Nepal, and Mozambique, focusing on strengthening community-based adaptation education and research in least developed countries.

The course aimed to enhance participants’ knowledge and awareness of climate change adaptation, organized through collaborative facilitation by IUB and the International Centre for Climate Change and Development (ICCCAD). It included interactive quizzes, foundational discussions on LLA, a simulation game on climate-smart decision-making, and a session focused on youth-led climate action.

Facilitators included Rawnak Jahan Khan Ranon and Samiha Saleha from ICCCAD; Savio Rousseau Rozario, LLA Programme Coordinator at ICCCAD; Fahmid Mohtasin, Project Officer for COLOCAL; and Sumaiya Binte Selim, Program Coordinator of the ICCCAD Youth team.

Dr. K. Ayaz Rabbani, Dean of the School of Environment and Life Sciences, concluded the session by distributing prizes to winners of the quiz and simulation game. Feedback forms were distributed at the end of the event to gather responses for future analysis.
