The Department of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) of Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB) and the IEEE Computer Society IUB Student Branch Chapter co-hosted the Droidcon Bangladesh 2025 on June 20-21, 2025.
The event brought together over 500 developers, students, engineers, and professionals from Bangladesh and abroad to engage in technical discussions, knowledge exchange, and career networking focused on Android, Kotlin, and Flutter technologies.
Droidcon Bangladesh 2025 was part of the internationally recognized droidcon conference series, supported by Google, JetBrains, Microsoft, Amazon, Facebook, and Samsung. This edition featured more than 28 expert sessions addressing mobile development trends, cross-platform architecture, user interface and experience design, app security, and artificial intelligence.
Speakers included Pamela Hill, Kotlin Developer at JetBrains; Omar Al Zabir, CTO and Co-founder of ServerDrivenUI and former CTO of Pathao; Simon Vergauwen, Developer Advocate at JetBrains; Mohsen Mirhoseini, Software Engineer at Wolt; and Abdullah Al Hasan, former Software Engineer at Brain Station 23.
To strengthen student engagement with the tech industry, the event introduced two dedicated “Connection Booths” in collaboration with Brain Station 23, Pathao, and BD Apps. These booths offered direct access to mentorship, recruitment opportunities, and practical career advice for attendees.
Speaking at the event, IUB Vice Chancellor Prof. M. Tamim said that IUB supported initiatives that connected academic learning with real-world technology ecosystems. Pro Vice Chancellor Prof. Daniel W. Lund said such platforms demonstrated the value of university-industry collaboration in promoting academic and professional readiness. Dr. Saadia Binte Alam, Head of the Department of CSE, highlighted the significance of the partnership in enabling student and faculty interaction with global tech leaders.
Co-organizer IEEE Computer Society IUB Student Branch Chapter handled logistics, volunteer coordination, technical operations, and digital communications.
