The Department of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) at Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB) organized the 2nd CSE Annual Research Day (CARD) 2025 on June 19, 2025. The event aimed to promote academic research engagement among students through competitions, keynote speeches, and recognition of research excellence.

The opening ceremony was held at the IUB Auditorium and included remarks from Dr. Saadia Binte Alam, Head of the CSE Department; Dr. Habib Bin Muzaffar, Dean of the School of Engineering, Technology and Sciences; Prof. Daniel W. Lund, Pro-Vice Chancellor; and keynote speaker Dr. Imadur Rahman, Managing Director and CEO of Bangladesh Satellite Company Limited.

From 11:00 am to 1:00 pm, the Project Showcasing and Poster Competitions took place at the Student Activity Area on the ground floor of the Academic Building. Afzal Hossain Alif received the Best Project Showcasing award in both Hardware and Software categories, while Nabarun Halder won in the Research Track category.

The 3-Minute Thesis (3MT) Competition was held in the afternoon and judged by CSE faculty members. Prof. Dr. M. Arshad Momen, Director of Graduate Studies and Research in Industrial Relations (GSRIR) of IUB, was the Chief Judge. Tasnuba Badrul won the 3MT Competition. Mohammad Arshad Hossain Ratul received the Best Undergraduate Senior Project award.

Md. Shahduzzaman was awarded Best Undergraduate Research in CSE, and Nabarun Halder received Best Graduate Research in CSE. In cross-department categories, Mobarak Hossen Mollah Emon from EEE was named Best Student Researcher in Engineering and Physical Sciences; Mst. Jannatul Mawa from Law was recognized in Humanities, Social Sciences, and Professional Studies; and Md. Harun Or Rashid from Public Health was honored in Life and Health Sciences.

The closing ceremony featured keynote addresses from Prof. M. Arshad Momen; Prof. Khondaker A Mamun, Director of IRIIC at UIU and Founder of CMED Health; Prof. Osama Khan, Deputy Vice Chancellor of Aston University and IUB alumnus; and Prof. M. Sohel Rahman, Member of the Bangladesh Public Service Commission and Professor of CSE at BUET.

IUB Vice Chancellor Prof. M. Tamim delivered the closing remarks. Dr. Ashraful Islam, convener of the CSE Research and Innovation Committee and Director of CCDS, offered a Vote of Thanks. The program concluded with a high tea session for winners, faculties, and guests.
