Published : 30 April 2025

Students of the course “CMN 307: Film and Television in Bangladesh” under the Department of Media and Communication at Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB), visited the Bangladesh Film Development Corporation (BFDC) on April 28, 2025, to gain practical exposure to the country’s film industry. The visit was conducted as part of the course curriculum and led by Prof. Dr. Zakir Hossain Raju, course instructor and Head of the Department.

During the visit, students observed production-related infrastructure including shooting floors, camera and lighting units, editing panels, and dubbing rooms. They received operational briefings from BFDC staff on technical workflows and industry practices. The visit enhanced students’ understanding of film production processes in real-world settings.

BFDC Managing Director Masuma Tani guided the students through the facility. She explained the institution’s historical role in Bangladeshi cinema and its current functions supporting film professionals. She also discussed the evolution of the national film industry and responded to student queries about industry dynamics.

The trip was part of IUB’s effort to integrate academic theory with professional practice in media and communication education. The department plans to continue such field-based learning activities in future semesters.
