CGP&AR Hosts Alumni Networking Event

The Office of Career Guidance, Placement and Alumni Relations (CGP&AR) of IUB organized a networking event on May 17, 2024 at Six Seasons Hotel in Dhaka, bringing together senior alumni and recent graduates to reconnect and forge new connections. The event, attended by over 200 participants, rekindled old friendships and paved the way for new relationships.

The event commenced with a warm welcome from Sharmeen Islam, Head of CGP&AR, who expressed heartfelt gratitude to the alumni for their continued support and engagement with IUB. She encouraged recent graduates to seek guidance and advice from the senior alumni.

Among the speakers was Professor Mohammed Anwer, PhD, who recounted the early days of IUB and shared anecdotes. Muhammad Hossam Haider Chowdhury, the university Librarian, informed the alumni about the state-of-the-art library and invited them to visit.

Muntasir Hossain from the first graduating batch and currently serving as the Unit Head, Corporate Banking, Commercial Bank of Ceylon PLC, expressed his ongoing support for IUB and its graduates. Tanveer Hussain Probal, also from the 1993 batch and the lyricist and composer of IUB theme song "Alma Mater," recalled his early days as a student and the creation of the song.

A number of IUB officials and support staff, who have been with the university for over 20 years, also joined the program. Alumni ID cards and gifts were given to those who registered for the event. The evening concluded with a cultural program where performers sang numbers on request and old favorites, followed by dinner.
