To mark the Independence and National Day 2024, the Independent Photography Club (IPC) of Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB), unveiled a significant four-day photography exhibit titled "Swadhinatar Jolchobi" on their campus on March 27, 2024. The event is a collaborative effort with the IUB Journalism Club and the Division of Student Activities (DoSA) and focuses on the life stories of the Freedom Fighters, aiming to share their narratives of struggle and sacrifice with the younger generations, fostering a deeper understanding of the Liberation War.
The exhibition was inaugurated by a host of dignitaries including Freedom Fighter and IUB Board of Trustees (BoT) Chairman, Mr. Mr. Didar A Husain; Architect Nilufer Zafarullah, Chairman, ESTCDT; Dr. Husne Ara Ali, Member, BoT; and Tanweer Hasan, PhD, Vice Chancellor, IUB.
Notably, the event also featured personal engagements with Freedom Fighters AMG Kabir Vulu, Habibul Alam, Mokhlesur Rahman, Abdul Kader Mondal, and Mohammad Joynal Abedin, who shared their firsthand experiences of the Liberation War with students.
IPC President Rami Ahmed highlighted the exhibition's significance, stating, "Swadhinatar Jolchobi is more than a photography exhibit. It is a tribute to the indomitable spirit of Bangladesh's Freedom Fighters and our nation’s journey towards independence. Through portraits and interviews, our members have meticulously documented these heroes' lives and sacrifices. We extend our gratitude to the IUB Journalism Club for their role in transforming these interviews into compelling narratives."
Swadhinatar Jolchobi is being hosted on the ground floor of the IUB Academic Building and will be open until March 31, 2024. This exhibition not only serves as a visual homage to the Freedom Fighters but also as an educational venture, aiming to imbue attendees with a profound sense of national history and pride.
