IUB alumnus Navid Bin Ahmed has been named a Global Sustainability Leader for 2022 by the Geneva-based United People Global for his commitment towards promoting the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goal #9 (Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure), #4 (Quality Education) and #17 (Partnerships for the Goals). Navid was selected from among a massive pool of over 6,500 applicants from around the world. He became one of 500 young leaders from 120 countries after going through multiple phases of thorough reviews. The sustainability leaders will be initially trained online. Later, a group of young leaders selected after the online training will receive in-person coaching on effective leadership at the Hurricane Island of Science and Leadership at Maine, USA later this year. Expressing his gratitude for this award, Navid said he dedicated this award to everyone who has been striving to make the world a better place to live in using their skill and dedication. “Together, we are stronger than ever, and better than before,” he said after receiving the email confirming his recognition in mid-February. He has also said: “Now I have the United People Global who have extended a hand towards me saying that I am not alone in this race to make the world better.” Navid is also a recipient of this year's "Diamond Do Good" UPG Biashara (Business) Entrepreneurship award. He got his BSc and MSc degrees in Electrical and Electronic Engineering (EEE) from IUB in 2016 and 2019 respectively. Currently, he is working in Relisource US Inc.
