IUB’s Life Sciences Departments Visited Bangladesh Agricultural Research Institute
A group of students from the Department of Life Sciences (BSc. in Biochemistry and Biotechnology) of Independent University Bangladesh (IUB) recently visited the Postharvest Technology Division (PHTD) of Bangladesh Agricultural Research Institute (BARI). The study tour was aimed at providing the students with practical exposure to the workings of the post-harvest processing and research projects currently undergoing at PHTD.
Upon arrival, the students were welcomed and given a brief introduction to the division and its various operations by Md. Hafizul Haque Khan, Chief Scientific Officer, PHTD. They were then shown around the division and were given a detailed explanation of the various processes that are involved in post-harvest handling and processing of agricultural products by Dr. Md. Golam Ferdous Chowdhury, Senior Scientific Officer, PHTD.
The students gained insights into the importance of proper post-harvest management and its impact on the quality of agricultural products and, ultimately, the economy of the country.
