The Office of Industrial Relations under IUB’s School of Engineering Technology and Sciences (SETS) organized an Industry-Academia Networking Session on June 16, 2022. The program, held at the Faculty and Management Lounge of IUB, was attended by a total of 13 internship supervisors from different companies and IUB’s academic internship supervisors and the coordinator along with other senior faculty members.
The event was organized as part of the SRC project titled “Development and Establishment of an Industry-Academia Collaboration Wing at SETS.”
The purpose of the networking session was to invite and honor the industry supervisors of the CSE internship program and learn about their experiences with the interns, who are currently working in their supervision. The supervisors were also asked to share their views about the interns’ skill gaps and how industry and academia can work together to develop graduates that serve industry needs better.
Professor Dr. Yousuf M. Islam, Dean, SETS, chaired the session. He also presented the missions of the industry relations initiatives and how industry stakeholders can collaborate with IUB to complement each other.
At the program, each internship supervisor of IUB and corresponding industry supervisor sat for one-to-one focused discussion to share their experiences, and identify gaps, current steps, and ways forward.
