GSG organizes workshop on Academic Writing and Integrity

IUB’s Department of Global Studies and Governance (GSG), in association with the Center for Pedagogy, organized a workshop on Academic Writing and Integrity on May 18, 2022. The aim of this workshop was to improve IUB students’ academic literacy and writing skills through practical exercises. Around 200 students from various departments joined the workshop both physically and virtually.
In the first session, Dr. Shanawez Hossain, Assistant Professor of GSG, highlighted the various facets and structures of academic writing including construction of critique paper, articles, term papers, assignments, monographs, thesis, and so forth.
In the second session, Mr. Raian Hossain, Lecturer of GSG, discussed various academic integrity skills such as avoiding plagiarism, paraphrasing and using proper referencing, so that students may learn to prepare themselves in line with international academic and professional standards.
Earlier, the workshop began with welcome remarks from Dr. Marufa Akter, Assistant Professor and Head, Department of GSG, and Prof. Dr. Imtiaz A Hussain, Advisor, Department of GSG and Executive Director, Center for Pedagogy, IUB. Prof. Dr. Taiabur Rahman, Dean of IUB’s School of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences also spoke at the program. Mr. Md. Ohidujjaman, Senior Lecturer of GSG, moderated the workshop.
